(UPDATED 1/8/2023)
The website, Art Fitpatrick: Portraits of Cars, survived the illustrator’s death (Strohl, 2015). However, when I tested the link in early 2023 it did not work and I could not find an alternative link. Perhaps the website is being updated or repaired. Or perhaps it is permanently offline.
The last time I saw the website active, its home page stated that it displayed “the world’s most famous automotive art” — with some justification.
Examples of Fitzpatrick’s work from the 1950s through the 1970s were presented. Perhaps the most famous are those he composed for Pontiac in collaboration with Van Kaufman, but his collection also includes Buicks, Cadillacs and Opels. Fitzpatrick drew the cars and Kaufman took care of the background.
Illustrations were available from the website for purchase.
