I am so glad that I found Hotcars.com! They have an article I really needed to read: “15 Extremely ‘Girly’ Cars Every Guy Needs To Avoid At All Costs.”
See, the problem is that automakers can be tricky. Guys may think a car was designed for them but it may not be! Chuck Hannigan (2020) says that men “sometimes don’t recognize that driving a girly car can make them look too feminine or gay-ish even if the one driving is beefed up with muscles.”
Hotcars.com is made in Quebec so Chuck includes girly cars we don’t have in America. Like a Nissan Micra and a Nissan Figaro — both in pink!
Guys might be surprised by which cars are girly
I have seen most of the cars Chuck lists. They include some obvious ones, like the VW Beetle and Fiat 500. But he does make some smart points I didn’t think of. Like he says of the Beetle, “In terms of size, the Beetle is quite compact compared to muscle cars and bigger SUVs. It also looks minuscule compared to monster trucks and cars used for races.”
Good thing I read this article because I was fooled by some cars. Like the Mazda MX-5 and the BMW Z4! They are both girly partly because they are small. Plus, the MX-5 was “designed mainly for women who race.” And the Z has a “toyish and feminine look.”
Then there’s the Kia Forte. It is popular with the chicks because “it’s easy to drive on cramped streets, which is a common difficulty that women struggle with.”
Never forget that you are what you drive
Chuck is a realistic guy. He says, “In a perfect world, anyone can drive any car without any judgment. However, in the real world, if you’re a guy with a girly car, it speaks volumes about you. Some of the cars on this list may even drive away the ladies simply due to how feminine they make you appear.”
Unfortunately, the link to this story is no longer available — what’s with that? But good news! Hotcars.com still has one other terrific article by Chuck: “Top 15 Hottest Cars to Score With the Ladies” (2017). No, wait — that’s now gone too!
Damn — this was the information you need to buy the right car! But at least they still have top writers like Ryan Gilmore. He “is a formally qualified automotive journalist having studied a Masters degree in the subject in the UK” and is a “huge gear head.” When I grow up I want to be a master of cars and have a huge head so I can work for Hotcars.com!
NOTES:
This story has been updated to note that links to Chuck Hannigan’s masterworks are apparently no longer available at Hotcars.com.
